Anxiety Disorder
Many people in this country suffer from anxiety disorder. Everyone get anxious from time to time when stressful situations come up or our worries start to infringe on our daily lives. This disorder however is something different than just simply being nervous about a particular event. Being nervous is good – however, having that feeling all the time, in situations that don’t instigate it, is the sign of a more serious condition that can cause great health problems in the long-run and can affect one’s life immensely.
Each sufferer experiences different reactions and exhibits different symptoms. Some people can suffer from constant intense anxiety at all hours while others can have paralyzing anxiety only when certain triggers occur. Regardless of the manifestation, the process and pain is the same. Anxiety is a very problematic disorder. With anxiety, it’s a constant feedback loop that causes symptoms to intensify as the anxiety increases. Anxiety is basically your body reacting to fear. It puts your body in a heightened state and makes your mind ready to fight or flee. This can be great at certain times, but is extremely uncomfortable and unhealthy in situations that do not require it. Worst of all, for sufferers as your physical reaction occurs it feeds into your mental stress, which only increases your physical symptoms of anxiety.
Treating anxiety can be difficult. The root of the problem may be obscure so treating the symptoms is the priority, because of the risks they pose. For most this a combination of therapy that grapples with fears and stress as well as medication to reduce the physical effects of anxiety.
